Technology has become an essential part of our daily lives in today's digital world and this is especially for the younger generation
his is the digital era of the 21st century. Politicians, activists, journalists, and businesspeople all use social media in different ways. When the networks are shut down by the authorities, stakeholders who utilize social media are impacted not just by politicians, but also by businessmen and the economy in general.
In unprecedented circumstances, Tanzanian authorities shut down the internet during the 2020 general election. This attempt to shut down the internet during the election is what has made us as the organization have a thematic focus on Internet freedom. Through the project that we have been implementing recently, we have utilized a digital platform in order to advocate for change.
Under the hashtag #SheriaZetu (Our Laws), our campaign to call for the repeal of laws that limit civic space in Tanzania has been able to reach more than 17.5 million people in just four months.
