Arts and Culture as a tool in advocating for Change.

Art, when used properly, may be used to advocate for change. We recently used cartoons as an advocacy tool while implementing a project to advocate for repealing oppressive laws that limit civic space in Tanzania. Said Michael "Wakudata," a renowned cartoonist, was able to draw our cartoons with a thematic focus on the problems facing civil society and the civic space. The cartoons were published on several digital platforms. Cartoons heightened public awareness of activism and prompted debate on social media platforms.

These are some of the cartoons that call for change to the problems facing Tanzania's civil society and civic space in general.
